Picture a billionaire. Do you imagine they wear a long velvet robe, silk pajamas, a diamond studded tux, or even walk with a gold cane? Maybe you think of Daddy Warbucks or the Monopoly Man. You might even picture the Kardashians with their flashy houses and cars. Believe it or not, one of the richest men in the world actually isn't flashy at all. If you didn’t know him, you wouldn’t even be able to tell that he is one of the world's richest people. His name is Warren Buffett.
Buffett isn’t your cliche billionaire. He doesn’t drive around in a brand new Rolls Royce or live in a 13,000 square foot house, or have a trainer who keeps him fit and sexy, not to say that he isn’t. Buffett just isn’t a flashy guy. Buffett lives in the same home he purchased in 1958 for a mere $32,000. That is equal to $338,481.38 today. Speaking of not being flashy, he prefers to drive only American-made cars and he’ll drive them until they are no longer running. As of today, he is driving a 2014 Cadillac XTS. Compare that to Jeff Bezos, the second richest man in the world. He has a collection of Bugatti, Cadillac, Ferrari, Koenigsegg, Lamborghini, Land Rover, Lincoln, Mercedes-Benz, and W Motors.
When you think of a billionaire, you’d think that their diet consists of imported fruits and vegetables, caviar, filet mignon, or decadent chocolates all prepared by their
personal chef. Prominent billionaires and a lot of wealthy celebrities keep fit with a personal trainer who helps them stay in good shape and make elevated food choices. Warren Buffet is the exact opposite. He has made it to the ripe young age of 92 and he believes that the reason is his special diet. His daily diet consists of McDonalds Breakfast and 5 cans of full-sugar Coca-Cola. He famously stated, “I think happiness makes an enormous amount of difference in terms of longevity. And I'm happier when I'm drinking Coke or eating hot fudge sundaes and hot dogs."
So one of the many things we can learn from Mr. Buffett is that if we eat what we love and are conscious about money we’ll live a long, fulfilling, and happy life. Stay young friends.
